About Adalah Council

عَدَالَة ʿadālah — justice, balance, equity

Adalah Council is a nonprofit research and education organization founded in 2025 to bring qualified religious scholarship to the questions that shape public life. Its name — ʿadālah, the Arabic word for justice and balance — reflects a conviction that sound guidance rests on both fidelity to the Islamic intellectual tradition and careful attention to the realities of the modern world.

The Council serves individuals, families, and institutions seeking thoughtful, principled answers to contemporary ethical, legal, and social questions. It pursues this through research and publication, public education, and advisory guidance grounded in scholarship rather than personality or partisanship.

We approach these questions with intellectual seriousness and independence. Adalah Council welcomes a range of perspectives, resists political alignment, and holds that religious scholarship serves the public best when it is rigorous, transparent, and accountable to the tradition it represents.

Rooted in the Islamic scholarly tradition
Attentive to contemporary life
Independent of partisanship
